Co-occurrence

« Back to Glossary Index

A co-occurrence refers to the simultaneous presence of different elements or terms within the same document. In business intelligence and data analysis, co-occurrence is often used to heuristically identify patterns and uncover associations between concepts that may not be inherently connected.

For example, if an investor’s name frequently appears in articles about startups successfully securing funding, it might be inferred that the investor has a strong track record of making successful investment choices, even if no direct claim is made in the text. Co-occurrence analysis helps to uncover hidden insights and relationships in large data sets.
