A broad class of AI models that include large language models, as well as models for computer vision, reinforcement learning, and other domains. They are called “foundation” models because they act as a base on which various applications can be built, supporting a wide array of use cases and industries. These models are designed to be versatile, providing a solid starting point for further fine-tuning and customization for specific tasks.
