Google is introducing a new AI-driven Gemini side panel in Google Calendar, designed to streamline scheduling through conversational interactions. This feature, currently available to select users through the Google Workspace Labs early access program, allows users to check their schedule, create events, and retrieve event details effortlessly.

To access Gemini, users can click on the “Ask Gemini” icon located in the top-right corner of their Google Calendar. The panel offers suggested prompts or allows users to type their own queries.

For example, Gemini might suggest actions like “Schedule a lunch meeting” or “Find my next appointment with John.” Users can also generate additional suggestions by selecting the “More suggestions” option.

Alternatively, users can input custom prompts such as “When is my next meeting with Emily?” or “Schedule a recurring workout on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6 AM.” This AI-powered functionality eliminates the need for manual calendar management, making it easier to organize schedules with natural language commands.

With this update, Google Calendar joins other Workspace apps like Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat in integrating the Gemini side panel. However, there is no official timeline for when the feature will become widely available.
