Part-of-Speech (POS) tagging is an NLP function that assigns grammatical labels to the words in a sentence. Basic POS tagging categorizes each word by its grammatical role (e.g., noun, verb, adjective). More advanced techniques can identify phrases, classify clauses, build sentence dependency trees, and even assign logical functions to words, such as subject, predicate, or temporal adjunct.
