Google Expands Nano Banana AI Image Generator Across Search, Notes, and Photos

Google is doubling down on its creative AI tools with a major update to its Nano Banana AI image generator, expanding its reach across Google Search, NotebookLM, and Google Photos. The move is designed to make AI-powered image creation more accessible across the company’s most widely used products.

Launched in August, Nano Banana quickly gained popularity for its fast, high-quality image generation capabilities. Now, the tool is being integrated directly into Google’s ecosystem, allowing users to generate, edit, and transform visuals seamlessly inside familiar Google apps.

Image generation comes to Search and Lens

Soon, users will be able to take photos using Google Lens and instantly transform them with AI using a new “Create” mode. Whether editing an image, generating new art, or enhancing visuals, Nano Banana’s integration with Lens and Search marks a major leap in how users interact with images online.

Smarter visuals in NotebookLM

Google is also enhancing NotebookLM, its research and note-taking assistant, by bringing visual generation to the platform. Users will be able to generate customized visuals, including watercolor or anime-style illustrations, based on written notes and sources.

A video overview feature is also in the works, complementing existing audio and text summaries in NotebookLM. While pricing hasn’t been announced, this capability could become part of a premium tier due to higher video rendering costs.

The Nano Banana AI image generator is also headed to Google Photos, though details and release timing remain unclear. It’s expected to bring enhanced AI editing and creative generation tools directly into the Photos app, further simplifying how users modify and design images.
