Codi, the Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)-backed startup, has officially launched what it calls the first AI-powered office management platform — a tool designed to fully automate the logistics of running a workplace.
Founded in 2018 by Christelle Rohaut and Dave Schuman, Codi originally operated as a marketplace helping companies find and manage flexible office spaces. But as AI technology evolved — and the nature of office work changed dramatically after the pandemic — the company transformed its model into a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that automates the daily complexities of office management.
From Marketplace to AI-Powered Automation
In its early days, Codi helped clients manually coordinate vendors, handle move-ins, and manage spaces. But Rohaut explains that recent breakthroughs in AI allowed the company to “automate ourselves.”
“The previous model of Codi required companies to get office spaces through us,” said Rohaut. “Now, with our AI SaaS product, any company can automate its office logistics — regardless of where they lease their space.”
The AI office management platform, which went into beta in May, officially launched this week. Impressively, it reached $100,000 in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in just five weeks of its beta rollout.
Solving a Costly, Manual Problem
Even as hybrid work reshapes corporate operations, one constant remains: office management is still time-consuming and expensive. According to Rohaut, companies spend at least $80,000 a year on administrative tasks just to keep an office running.
“Office management remains very manual and broken,” she said. Codi’s AI aims to fix that by handling everything from pantry restocking and cleaning schedules to vendor coordination— tasks that traditionally require human oversight.
The company’s system integrates directly with a business’s existing vendor network. Once configured, the AI autonomously manages service schedules and operations, saving teams “hundreds of hours a year” in administrative labor.
Replacing the Traditional Office Manager
The role of the office manager has changed dramatically in the post-pandemic era. Many companies that downsized or went hybrid no longer employ a full-time manager. For those that do, the focus often leans more toward team-building events than day-to-day logistics.
Codi’s AI solution fills that operational gap. Instead of hiring staff or contracting multiple vendors, companies can pay a monthly subscription fee to let the AI handle it all — at a fraction of the cost.
Early adopters are already taking notice. During beta testing, 40 new companies, including TaskRabbit and Northbeam, signed up to use the AI platform.
A New Era of Smart Workspaces
Codi’s CEO positions the platform as a direct challenge to legacy office management companies and workplace experience platforms like Envoy. Unlike those traditional systems, Codi’s AI doesn’t just track or record tasks — it executes them autonomously.
Rohaut envisions a future where offices can manage themselves:
“Codi is building the future where offices can run themselves, just like cars can drive themselves,” she said. “We want to remove the logistical burden of managing physical spaces and free human talent to focus on culture and growth.”
The Bottom Line
With $23 million raised to date — including a $16 million Series A led by a16z — Codi is positioning itself as a trailblazer in AI-driven workplace management. As return-to-office trends continue and hybrid teams grow, Codi’s automation-first approach could redefine how companies think about the modern office.
In an age where workspaces are becoming smarter and more flexible, Codi’s launch signals the next big step: the autonomous office.
