The Luma Dream Brief is turning heads across the advertising world. Luma AI has announced a global creative competition that could award $1 million to the team behind a Luma-powered campaign that wins a 2026 Cannes Lions Gold Lion.
Developed in collaboration with experiential creative agency DE-YAN, the Luma Dream Brief invites creatives to resurrect their boldest unmade ideas—concepts that were once shelved for being too risky, expensive, or hard to visualize.
Why the Luma Dream Brief Exists
At its core, the Luma Dream Brief is built on a simple industry truth: some of the best advertising ideas never make it past the pitch room.
By combining creative ambition with Luma AI’s advanced generative tools, the competition aims to remove traditional production barriers and give creatives greater control over craft, predictability, and execution—especially for AI-generated commercials and branded content.
“A lot of great advertising never gets made,” said Caroline Ingeborn, COO of Luma AI. “The Dream Brief is about removing those constraints and letting creatives prove what’s possible when ideas set the ceiling.”
From Unmade Ideas to Cannes Lions Contenders
The Luma Dream Brief challenges participants to create fully realized commercials for Luma itself, ensuring the work meets Cannes Lions’ eligibility rules for real clients and real-world execution.
According to Jason Kreher, former creative leader at Wieden+Kennedy and Accenture Song, the project taps into a shared frustration across the industry.
“Almost everyone in advertising has an idea they loved that never saw the light of day,” Kreher said. “This is a chance to understand generative AI by using it to make something that previously had no path to being real.”
How the Luma Dream Brief Competition Works
The Luma Dream Brief will roll out in multiple phases:
- Launch week featuring original films created with Luma AI
- Open submissions from creatives worldwide via the Dream Brief website
- Deadline: March 22
- Judging: By a jury of leading voices in advertising and culture
To remove a major awards hurdle, selected finalists will also receive paid media support, ensuring their work runs publicly within the Cannes Lions eligibility window.
All submissions must be created using Luma AI tools.
Why This Matters for the Future of Advertising
The Luma Dream Brief arrives at a moment when generative AI is reshaping how campaigns are imagined, produced, and delivered. Instead of fearing AI’s impact, Luma is positioning it as a creative enabler—one that lowers execution risk while raising the ceiling on ambition.
For creatives, the incentive is clear: global recognition, Cannes Lions credibility, and a $1 million prize—all for ideas that once seemed impossible to make.
