Snap AI Advertising Takes Center Stage as Company Embeds AI Across Its Entire Ad Platform

Snap AI advertising is no longer just an enhancement—it’s becoming the backbone of how the company plans to drive performance and profitable growth.

During its fourth-quarter earnings call, Snap positioned artificial intelligence as the core lever behind advertiser success, announcing that AI is now embedded across its entire advertising stack—from creative development to campaign delivery and optimization.

The goal is clear: make it easier for advertisers to reach Snapchat users while improving direct-response outcomes and return on ad spend.

“To leverage AI to make it easier for advertisers to connect with Snapchatters while delivering stronger performance and more consistent returns,” said CEO Evan Spiegel, describing how Snap AI advertising now powers everything from campaign setup to real-time optimization.

AI Becomes the Engine of Ad Execution

Snap said AI is now deeply integrated into planning, launch, and optimization workflows, significantly reducing friction for advertisers.

Its smart campaign solutions—such as smart targeting and smart budget—automatically allocate spend across objectives, minimizing manual setup while improving performance consistency. According to the company, these AI-driven systems are reshaping how campaigns scale efficiently.

In Q4, Snap reported that targeted ranking, format, and delivery improvements for dynamic product ads led to a 55% reduction in cost per action for zero-conversion campaigns and a 45% reduction for one-conversion campaigns, based on cumulative internal testing over the past year. Dynamic product ad revenue grew 19% year over year during the quarter.

These gains were supported by increased adoption of dynamic formats among large advertisers and a continued shift away from static ads—another sign that Snap AI advertising is reshaping buying behavior on the platform.

Sponsored Snaps Drive Lower-Funnel Results

Sponsored Snaps emerged as one of Snap’s most differentiated ad products, enabling direct, conversation-based engagement between brands and Snapchatters.

In Q4, Sponsored Snaps click-through rates rose 7%, while click-through purchases increased 17% quarter over quarter. Snap highlighted several advertiser case studies demonstrating strong lower-funnel performance.

Travel brand Kon-Tiki used Sponsored Snaps to drive bookings, achieving a 283% increase in return on ad spend and a 72% reduction in cost per purchase. Saudi QSR brand Kudu combined AR lenses with Sponsored Snaps, delivering 40% more app installs at 76% lower CPI and 38x more purchases at an 84% lower cost.

App Ads and SMB Momentum Accelerate

Snap said its app advertising business accelerated sharply in Q4, with revenue from in-app optimizations growing 89% year over year. The company credited advances in foundational app models, broader adoption of its App Power Pack, and immersive formats like Playables.

Small and medium-sized businesses remained a major growth driver. Total active advertisers grew 28% year over year in Q4, helped by streamlined Ads Manager workflows, easier campaign launches from partner platforms, and new integrations—including a global partnership with Wix.

Snap also revealed it is investing in AI agents to automate onboarding and recommendations for SMB advertisers, further lowering decision friction and improving campaign outcomes through Snap AI advertising.

Revenue Growth and Platform Signals

Overall revenue grew 10% year over year in Q4, supported by both advertising and non-advertising streams. Advertising revenue reached $1.48 billion, up 5% year over year, driven by SMB strength and improved performance from newer ad formats.

Other revenue jumped 62% year over year, fueled by subscription growth. Subscribers increased 71% year over year to reach 24 million, led by Snapchat Plus and memory storage plans.

Gross margin climbed to 59%, reflecting a shift toward higher-margin revenue streams and more disciplined infrastructure investments.

While global monthly active users rose to 946 million, daily active users dipped slightly as Snap deliberately pulled back on community growth marketing to prioritize profitability.

What Else Stood Out

Snap shared several additional engagement highlights:

  • Over 200 million Snapchatters played games monthly in Q4, up 90% year over year
  • Communicators increased 5% year over year, driven by direct messaging
  • Snap Map active users reached 435 million, up 6% year over year
  • Spotlight reposts and shares jumped 69% year over year in the U.S.
  • The company reiterated plans to publicly launch Specs in 2026, positioning AR hardware as a long-term growth engine

Taken together, the message from Snap is clear: Snap AI advertising is no longer experimental—it’s foundational to how the company plans to compete, monetize, and scale.
