Salesforce AI Job Cuts Continue as Company Quietly Eliminates Nearly 1,000 Roles

Salesforce AI job cuts have surfaced again, with the cloud software giant quietly eliminating fewer than 1,000 roles across multiple teams as it doubles down on artificial intelligence and reshuffles its executive leadership.

According to media reports and employee posts on social platforms, the layoffs took place earlier this month and affected teams spanning marketing, product management, data analytics, and roles tied to Salesforce’s flagship AI platform, Agentforce. At least nine employees confirmed their departures publicly on LinkedIn, while two others verified the cuts to Business Insider.

Salesforce declined to disclose the exact number of affected employees, though a source familiar with the situation said the total was under 1,000.

AI Strategy Drives Workforce Restructuring

The latest Salesforce AI job cuts reflect the company’s accelerating pivot toward AI-led operations. CEO Marc Benioff has repeatedly emphasized that Agentforce sits at the core of Salesforce’s future product strategy.

“People don’t understand that Agentforce is part and parcel of Salesforce,” Benioff said recently in an interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer. “It is the core of every product we make now, it is the platform.”

Agentforce enables businesses to deploy autonomous AI agents to handle tasks traditionally managed by human teams. Benioff has previously said Salesforce used AI agents to significantly reduce its customer support workforce, shrinking it from roughly 9,000 employees to about 5,000.

Introduced in 2024, Agentforce has seen rapid adoption. In 2025, Benioff said the platform reached “tens of thousands of deployments,” noting that customers were ready to scale execution further.

Leadership Shake-Up Accelerates

The Salesforce AI job cuts arrive alongside a major leadership transition. Since December, five senior executives have exited the company, while Salesforce has appointed or promoted six leaders across critical roles in security, marketing, architecture, enterprise technology, Slack, and Agentforce.

Key leadership changes include:

  • Iain Mulholland joining as Chief Security Officer from Google, replacing Brad Arkin.
  • Patrick Stokes becoming Chief Marketing Officer, succeeding Ariel Kelman.
  • Dave Ward taking on the role of Chief Architect.
  • Joe Inzerillo named President of Enterprise and AI Technology, overseeing Slack and Agentforce.
  • Rob Seaman promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager for Slack.
  • Madhav Thattai promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager for Agentforce.

Adam Evans, the previous head of Agentforce, also recently announced his departure.

A Salesforce spokesperson said the changes reflect long-term succession planning rather than disruption, adding that the company is confident in its leadership heading into FY27.

Employee Sentiment Signals Growing Unease

While Salesforce continues to emphasize innovation, employee sentiment shared online suggests rising unease amid recurring Salesforce AI job cuts.

In a Reddit post shared weeks before the layoffs, a job candidate interviewing for a senior finance role said they were reconsidering an offer due to concerns over frequent layoffs, leadership churn, and work-life balance. Dozens of current and former employees echoed similar worries in response.

Several employees cited low morale, limited promotion opportunities following organizational flattening, and anxiety around what some described as predictable biannual layoffs in February and September. Others noted that while compensation and benefits remain competitive, expectations and internal competition have intensified.

Despite the concerns, some employees acknowledged that Salesforce remains a strong brand and a valuable career platform for those who can thrive in a high-pressure, fast-evolving environment.

AI-Led Growth Brings Human Trade-Offs

The latest Salesforce AI job cuts underscore a broader recalibration underway as the company prioritizes AI-driven growth. While Agentforce is positioned as the backbone of Salesforce’s future, the human cost of that transition—from job losses to shifting workplace culture—is becoming increasingly visible.
