Abu Dhabi-based technology company G42 has announced a major artificial intelligence initiative after G42 partnered with Cerebras to deploy an 8 Exaflops AI Supercomputer in India. The new high-performance computing system, unveiled during the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, aims to strengthen India’s sovereign AI infrastructure and expand access to advanced computing capabilities.

The project will provide large-scale computing resources for educational institutions, government organizations, and small and medium enterprises, positioning India as a growing global hub for artificial intelligence innovation.

G42 Partnered With Cerebras to Build Sovereign AI Infrastructure

The partnership highlights how G42 partnered with Cerebras to accelerate India’s AI ecosystem while ensuring compliance with local data residency, security, and regulatory standards. The 8 Exaflops AI Supercomputer will be hosted within India, supporting national data sovereignty and enabling local development of AI technologies.

Manu Jain, CEO of G42 India, said sovereign AI infrastructure is becoming essential for national competitiveness. He noted that the initiative would enable researchers, innovators, and enterprises to become AI-driven while maintaining full control over data security and governance.

The deployment is expected to significantly enhance India’s computational capacity, allowing faster development of advanced AI models and enterprise applications.

Academic and Research Collaboration

The initiative brings together key research institutions, including Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). These collaborations aim to advance AI research and model development using the new 8 Exaflops AI Supercomputer infrastructure.

Previously, MBZUAI and G42 introduced Nanda 87B, a Hindi-English large language model designed to understand conversational speech. With G42 partnered with Cerebras, the new computing system is expected to support similar large-scale projects and expand AI capabilities across multiple sectors.

Cerebras chief strategy officer Andy Hock described the deployment as a major step forward for India’s AI ambitions, noting that the system would accelerate model training and inference while helping developers build AI solutions tailored to India’s needs.

India’s Rapid Expansion in AI Infrastructure

The announcement that G42 partnered with Cerebras comes amid a wave of investments aimed at strengthening India’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. Several initiatives unveiled during the India AI Impact Summit highlight the country’s push to scale computing capacity.

Indian conglomerate Adani has pledged $100 billion to develop up to 5 gigawatts of data center capacity by 2035. Reliance also plans to invest $110 billion over seven years to build gigawatt-scale data centers.

OpenAI has teamed up with Tata Group to secure 100 megawatts of AI computing power through its Stargate project, with plans to scale to 1 gigawatt. India’s technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced that the country aims to attract over $200 billion in infrastructure investments through policy support, tax incentives, and state-backed venture capital.

Growing Global Investment in India’s AI Ecosystem

India has become a key destination for global AI and cloud infrastructure development. U.S. technology companies including Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have already committed around $70 billion to expand their AI and cloud operations in the country.
