Samsung Galaxy S26 Perplexity AI Integration Signals a New Era of Agentic Smartphones

Samsung Galaxy S26 Perplexity AI integration is shaping up as one of the clearest signals yet that agentic AI is moving from concept to everyday device experience.

At its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, Samsung framed the moment as “The Beginning of Truly Agentic AI.” The company said the goal is simple: AI should feel less like a feature you activate and more like a dependable layer woven into daily phone use.

Alongside the Galaxy S26 and Buds4 launches, Samsung emphasized a shift toward context-aware tools that can anticipate actions and help users complete tasks without constantly switching between apps.

Samsung described its latest approach as a step toward a Galaxy AI multi-agent agentic smartphone future. Instead of isolated AI features, the company is building systems that understand conversational context and take action within that flow.

New features include call screening summaries and “Now Nudge” suggestions that adapt to what a user is discussing. Bixby has also been updated to search the web while keeping results embedded inside the conversation, rather than forcing users into separate browser windows.

Privacy was positioned as foundational to this evolution. Samsung introduced an on-device “Personal Data Engine” designed to learn user preferences locally. It is paired with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, Knox Vault and additional controls such as “Privacy Display” to reduce shoulder-surfing in sensitive apps.

The company also highlighted expanded collaboration with Google, including Circle to Search enhancements and a preview of a more agentic Android platform powered by Gemini 3. Samsung Co-CEO TM Roh summarized the philosophy by saying, “Infrastructure is responsibility. It must work for everyone, everywhere.”

Perplexity Samsung Bixby Search Cloud API Expansion

While Samsung focuses on the handset layer, Perplexity is expanding the cloud side of agentic computing.

Last week, Perplexity announced a new product called Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based agent available to subscribers on its $200-per-month Perplexity Max plan. The company describes it as a “computer user agent” capable of executing complex workflows independently, including spawning subagents to handle portions of a task.

According to TechCrunch, Perplexity says the system can route tasks across 19 different AI models. In demonstrations, it collected statistical, financial and legal information and transformed it into finished outputs such as websites or visualizations.

TechCrunch also framed the launch as part of Perplexity’s broader strategy shift. After initially packaging leading AI models into a search-like interface, the company expanded into tools like a web browser and is now targeting higher-value, decision-focused use cases.

Executives said the company is not focused on maximizing user numbers but on serving users making high-stakes decisions. A key theme is multimodel orchestration: software automatically selecting the most appropriate AI model for each task.

Governing the Agentic Identity Inside Enterprises

As these tools expand into phones and cloud environments, questions about governance are becoming more urgent.

A report from Cybersecurity Insiders argues that AI agents are already operating within enterprises, but most companies are not treating them as full-fledged “users” from a security standpoint.

Paul Walker, field CTO at Omada, told the publication that agent frameworks make it easier for software to act across multiple systems, blurring the line between human and nonhuman actors. The concern is that governance is lagging behind adoption.

Walker said traditional identity management practices built for employees do not map cleanly onto agents. Agents can request or assume access as needed, potentially accumulating permissions that exceed their original scope.

The report recommends treating agents as first-class identities, with formal provisioning, clearly defined entitlements, least-privilege access, lifecycle controls and continuous monitoring. It also stresses the need for stronger audit trails to track what agents did, what data they accessed and which systems they invoked.
