Amazon AI Shopping Feature is getting more interactive as the company rolls out a new audio Q&A experience on product pages. The update allows shoppers to ask product questions and receive conversational audio responses generated in real time, creating a more natural shopping experience.
How the Amazon AI Shopping Feature Works
The new tool is called “Join the chat.” It lets customers ask questions about products through text or voice and hear responses from what Amazon describes as AI-powered shopping experts. These answers are presented in a discussion-style format instead of a static text reply.
According to Amazon, the feature is designed to save time for shoppers who would otherwise need to read long product descriptions or browse through reviews. Instead, users can quickly ask direct questions and get useful responses instantly.
Real Questions, Personalized Answers
The Amazon AI Shopping Feature can answer practical shopping questions such as whether a coffee maker is beginner-friendly or whether a sweater feels itchy based on customer feedback. Rather than repeating generic responses, the system builds on previous answers to make the conversation more relevant as it continues.
Amazon says each question helps shape what comes next, allowing users to guide the conversation based on their needs.
Part of a Bigger Audio Experience
The new chat tool is part of Amazon’s broader “Hear the highlights” experience, which offers short audio summaries on millions of product pages in the Amazon Shopping app. That feature began testing in May and is currently available in the United States, although only selected products include audio summaries for now.
To use it, shoppers open a product page, tap the “Hear the highlights” button below the product image, then choose the “Join the chat” icon to ask questions. Audio playback can continue while users browse other parts of the app.
Amazon Expands Its AI Shopping Ecosystem
This launch adds to Amazon’s growing list of AI shopping tools. These include Rufus, its generative AI assistant for product research and comparisons, Interests for tracking products aligned with user preferences, and “Help me decide,” which recommends items based on browsing and shopping history.
Why It Matters
The Amazon AI Shopping Feature shows how online retail is moving toward more conversational and personalized experiences. Instead of searching through endless pages of information, customers may increasingly rely on AI to guide purchase decisions in real time.
