OpenAI Infrastructure Deals: Sam Altman Hints at More Big Moves Ahead

With its high-profile agreements with AMD, Nvidia, Oracle, and SoftBank already in motion, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is now promising that OpenAI infrastructure deals are far from over. Multiple new partnerships are reportedly in the pipeline as the company continues scaling its AI compute capacity aggressively.

At the same moment Nvidia’s CEO expressed surprise over the recent AMD deal, Altman revealed on the a16z Podcast that more collaborations are expected soon. These OpenAI infrastructure deals aim to expand its access to hardware, cloud services, data centers, and strategic computing resources.

OpenAI’s deal with AMD is especially novel: AMD has granted OpenAI warrants amounting to up to 10 percent of AMD’s stock, contingent upon performance milestones. In exchange, OpenAI will help develop and deploy future GPUs. Meanwhile, Nvidia’s deal took the inverse structure, with Nvidia investing directly into OpenAI.

Altman says that after striking OpenAI infrastructure deals with leading tech firms this year, the company is now entering a new phase of aggressive infrastructure investment. He noted, “You should expect much more from us in the coming months.”

The stakes are enormous. OpenAI has already secured over $1 trillion in infrastructure deals in 2025. These include its Stargate initiative—a $500 billion project with Oracle and SoftBank—to build new U.S. AI data centers. Altman’s optimism is rooted in the belief that future AI models will drive unprecedented demand for compute, making these OpenAI infrastructure deals crucial for long-term growth.
