Amazon’s new AI assistant, Alexa+, has officially arrived inside the Amazon Music app — bringing a conversational twist to how users explore and enjoy music.

On Tuesday, Amazon announced that the Alexa+ Amazon Music app integration is now live for iOS and Android users. The feature is available across all Amazon Music subscription plans, though it’s currently limited to users with Alexa+ Early Access.

To try it out, simply tap the small “a” button in the lower right corner of the app and start talking — no smart speaker required.

A Smarter Way to Discover Music

The Alexa+ Amazon Music app aims to make music discovery more natural and intuitive. Unlike the older version of Alexa that mostly followed commands, Alexa+ holds real conversations.

Users can now ask open-ended or creative questions such as, “What inspired this artist?” or “Which songs sound like the ones in that ‘Sopranos’ opening scene?”

It can even identify songs from vague memories — like when you remember only a lyric or the movie it played in.

Personalized Playlists, Powered by AI

One of the coolest upgrades in the Alexa+ Amazon Music app is its ability to create personalized playlists on demand. For example, you could say:

“Make a playlist of 2010s hits that keep me moving fast, starting with a track from Nicki Minaj.”

Or even more casually,

“Recommend songs that’ll make me seem cool to my 13-year-old without trying too hard.”

This shows how Alexa+ is evolving from a command-based assistant into a creative, context-aware music companion.

Early Access Results Look Promising

Although Alexa+ Amazon Music app is still in its early rollout phase, Amazon reports strong engagement. Over one million users already have access, and those who’ve tried Alexa+ are exploring three times more songs and listening to 70% more recommended tracks than before.

That’s a major win for both users and Amazon’s AI strategy.

A Strategic Move Against Spotify

This update comes shortly after Spotify’s own integration with ChatGPT, hinting at a growing trend: AI assistants inside music apps. Amazon seems ready to challenge Spotify by positioning Alexa+ as a conversational agent that goes beyond playlists — helping listeners connect emotionally with music.

In addition to Alexa+, Amazon Music recently added AI-generated weekly playlists, AI-assisted search, and an Explore feature that deepens artist discovery.

With these updates, the Alexa+ Amazon Music app is not just catching up — it’s setting a new standard for how AI and music can harmonize.
