New Relic Agentic Platform Launches to Accelerate Enterprise AI Observability

New Relic is stepping deeper into enterprise AI with the launch of the New Relic Agentic Platform, a no-code system designed to help companies build, deploy and manage AI agents focused on observability outcomes.

As enterprises look for ways to adopt artificial intelligence without losing control over their data and infrastructure, observability and monitoring tools are becoming central to the conversation. With this move, New Relic is positioning itself as a focused player in AI agent deployment for monitoring and performance management.

New Relic Agentic Platform Targets Observability Use Cases

The New Relic Agentic Platform allows enterprises to assemble AI-powered observability agents that monitor data streams, detect bugs and flag issues before they disrupt digital products or services.

Rather than building a general-purpose AI agent system, New Relic has narrowed its focus to observability-specific use cases. According to Brian Emerson, the company’s chief product officer, the platform is designed to deliver outcomes directly aligned with data observability and performance monitoring.

Enterprises can deploy pre-built AI agents, manage existing bots and integrate the platform with other New Relic tools. The system also supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling AI applications to connect with external data sources — a key capability for enterprise-grade AI deployments.

The strategy reflects a broader industry trend toward agent-focused infrastructure. Research firm Gartner, widely recognized for its enterprise technology analysis, has described AI agent platforms as “necessary infrastructure” for large-scale enterprise AI adoption.

Competing in a Growing AI Agent Ecosystem

The New Relic Agentic Platform enters a competitive landscape. Salesforce introduced its agentic solution, Agentforce, in late 2024. OpenAI followed with its own enterprise-oriented system, OpenAI Frontier, earlier this year.

However, New Relic’s approach differs by concentrating on observability rather than general-purpose automation. The company intends to complement existing AI ecosystems rather than replace them, allowing customers to integrate agentic workflows into their monitoring environments.

The rise of AI agent management software reflects enterprise concerns around governance, security and data access. As companies deploy AI agents across business systems, the need for visibility and control becomes increasingly critical.

Expanding OpenTelemetry Support

Alongside the New Relic Agentic Platform, the company unveiled expanded tools for OpenTelemetry (OTel), an open-source observability framework widely adopted across cloud-native environments.

New Relic’s application performance monitoring (APM) agents now include built-in OpenTelemetry capabilities, enabling enterprises to consolidate OTel data streams with other monitoring data in a single platform.

The move addresses fragmentation challenges that have slowed enterprise adoption of OpenTelemetry. According to company executives, managing OTel data collectors can be operationally complex for many teams.

By integrating OpenTelemetry fleet management directly into its APM tools, New Relic aims to simplify deployment and reduce the burden on engineering teams.

Driving Enterprise AI Adoption Through Infrastructure

The launch of the New Relic Agentic Platform underscores a broader shift in enterprise AI strategy. Rather than focusing solely on model capabilities, companies are investing in infrastructure that ensures AI systems operate reliably and transparently within production environments.
