Text Summarization

« Back to Glossary Index

Text summarization is the process of condensing a longer text into a shorter, accurate, and fluent version, preserving its key points and meaning. There are two main types:

  1. Extractive Summarization: Involves selecting key sentences or phrases directly from the original text to create a summary.
  2. Generative (Abstractive) Summarization: Involves generating a new, concise version of the text, often rephrasing or paraphrasing the original content.
