AI.com Domain Name Sells for $70 Million as Autonomous AI Platform Prepares Super Bowl Launch

The AI.com domain name has reportedly sold for a staggering $70 million, setting the stage for one of the most high-profile AI product launches yet—timed to air during Super Bowl LX.

According to an official announcement, Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, is preparing to launch AI.com, a consumer-facing platform built around an autonomous AI agent designed to manage everyday digital tasks on a user’s behalf.

A Record-Breaking Domain Bet

The price tag attached to the AI.com domain name is eye-catching even by Silicon Valley standards.

Larry Fischer, director at GetYourDomain, said the domain sold for $70 million, making it one of the most expensive domain-name transactions ever recorded. If accurate, the deal would surpass the previous record set by voice.com, which sold for $30 million.

The domain acquisition alone signals a massive wager on consumer-facing AI—before factoring in the cost of a Super Bowl commercial. For context, Crypto.com’s 2022 Super Bowl ad reportedly cost up to $7 million, while current Super Bowl slots often run into the tens of millions.

What AI.com Is Promising Users

The AI.com platform is scheduled to officially debut on February 8, 2026, during Super Bowl LX on NBC.

According to the company, users will be able to access the platform for free, with paid subscription tiers unlocking more advanced capabilities and higher input token limits. After choosing a username and AI handle, users can instantly generate their own autonomous agent.

The AI agent is positioned as a digital operator capable of handling a wide range of tasks—potentially including workflow automation, calendar management, content updates, and financial integrations.

A Bigger Vision for Autonomous Agents

Marszalek has framed AI.com as more than a single product launch.

“Our vision is a decentralized network of billions of agents who self-improve and share these improvements with each other,” he said, adding that such a system could rapidly expand agentic capabilities and accelerate the arrival of artificial general intelligence (AGI).

The company says it is actively exploring future offerings, including financial services integrations, agent marketplaces, and human-and-agency social networks, signaling ambitions well beyond a simple productivity tool.

AI Agents Are Gaining Momentum

The bet behind the AI.com domain name reflects a broader industry shift toward autonomous AI agents as the next major platform layer.

In 2024, Sam Altman described advanced AI agents as artificial intelligence’s potential “killer app,” predicting they could function like “super-competent colleagues.” He also suggested that today’s tools—such as chat-based assistants—may one day seem primitive by comparison.

By combining a premium digital asset, a mass-market Super Bowl launch, and growing enthusiasm around agentic AI, Marszalek is betting that consumers are ready to hand over more control to software.

Whether users will trust an AI agent to manage sensitive tasks remains to be seen—but with the AI.com domain name now in play, the race for consumer AI mindshare is clearly entering a new phase.
