Anthropic and IBM announce strategic partnership to accelerate enterprise AI adoption, integrating the power of Anthropic’s Claude models into IBM’s suite of business software.

IBM, headquartered in Armonk, New York, confirmed the collaboration on Tuesday, revealing that Claude’s large language model family will soon enhance several IBM software tools. The first integration will roll out within IBM’s integrated development environment (IDE), currently accessible to a select group of enterprise customers.

As part of the collaboration, IBM and Anthropic have jointly developed a detailed guide to help businesses build, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade AI agents safely and efficiently. This guide aims to provide companies with actionable insights on responsible AI deployment and governance — a growing concern among corporate leaders worldwide.

Although the terms of the deal remain undisclosed, both companies emphasize the long-term potential of this alliance to reshape how enterprises interact with generative AI. IBM has yet to comment on additional product integrations or expansion plans for the partnership.

Anthropic’s latest collaboration builds on its growing momentum in the enterprise AI market. The company recently partnered with consulting giant Deloitte to roll out Claude AI tools across its nearly 500,000-strong global workforce, marking the largest enterprise deployment of Claude to date.

Since the launch of Claude Enterprise in September 2024, Anthropic has positioned itself as a leading choice for organizations seeking reliable, ethical, and high-performing AI systems. A July 2024 study by Menlo Ventures further reinforced this trend, revealing that enterprise users prefer Claude models over competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, with OpenAI’s enterprise adoption rates declining since 2023.
