According to screenshots shared by Davidov, the AI admitted the error, stating it had mistakenly executed a command that removed an entire folder containing stored images.
The command, known as “rm -rf,” is a powerful deletion function widely recognized by developers as potentially dangerous if misused. The system reportedly identified the directory as empty and removed it, permanently deleting files that included family photos, travel memories, and important personal records.
Davidov explained that the folder contained photos captured over 15 years, including images of their children, weddings, and other major life events.

After discovering that the files were not in the computer’s trash or cloud storage, Davidov sought help from Apple support. Fortunately, he was able to restore the lost data using an iCloud backup feature that allowed recovery from an earlier system state.
