Fiverr says AI in hiring is reshaping how companies recruit talent and manage projects, but human expertise remains central to the future of work. The freelance marketplace highlighted the growing influence of artificial intelligence on hiring decisions while emphasizing that demand for high-value human skills continues to rise.
The company shared insights during its earnings call on Feb. 18, outlining how AI is transforming project lifecycles, talent matching, and workforce priorities across industries.
AI in Hiring Reshapes Work Dynamics
According to Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman, AI in hiring is not reducing job opportunities but shifting the nature of work toward more complex and ambitious projects. He noted that while lower-value transactional tasks may decline, demand for specialized human expertise is accelerating.
Kaufman explained that value in the AI-driven economy increasingly lies in judgment, context, trust, orchestration, and ownership of outcomes — areas where human talent continues to play a critical role.
The company is already seeing strong growth in demand for higher-value services, with specialized work expanding at a double-digit rate.
AI-Driven Recruitment and Talent Matching
A major shift highlighted in AI in hiring is the growing role of AI agents in recruitment. Kaufman said hiring decisions will increasingly be influenced — and sometimes initiated — by AI systems, making traditional resume-based hiring less effective.
Instead, businesses will rely more on precision matching based on contextual data, past outcomes, and performance history. Fiverr views this transformation as an opportunity to strengthen its marketplace by improving talent matching for complex projects.
Currently, projects worth over $1,000 account for less than 15% of Fiverr’s marketplace gross merchandise value, but they are growing rapidly at 23% year over year.
Focus on High-Value and AI-Native Work
Fiverr is prioritizing two key segments shaped by AI in hiring trends. The first involves complex collaborative engagements that require coordination between businesses, freelancers, and the platform. The second focuses on AI-native work that supports the expanding AI-enabled economy.
Kaufman pointed to partnerships with AI model safety companies as an example, where Fiverr provides domain experts who help identify vulnerabilities in foundational AI models.
The company believes these high-value services will become a larger part of its business as AI adoption continues to grow.
AI Strategy and Business Transformation
Fiverr has been actively restructuring its operations to align with the evolving role of AI. Last year, the company cut 250 employees as part of an AI-focused transformation aimed at modernizing infrastructure and accelerating innovation.
Kaufman said Fiverr has already integrated AI across multiple functions, including coding, marketing, and customer support, and plans to further expand its AI capabilities.
The company’s latest financial results showed revenue growth of 3.4% for the quarter and 10.1% for the full year 2025, compared to 8% growth in 2024, reflecting continued business expansion amid the rise of AI-driven work models.
