Google is doubling down on AI-powered education in India with a major update to Gemini for JEE preparation, introducing full-length mock tests for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)—one of the most competitive college entrance exams in the world.
Taken by millions of students every year, the JEE determines entry into India’s elite engineering institutes. With this launch, Google is positioning Gemini not just as a chatbot, but as a structured exam-prep companion for serious aspirants.
How Gemini for JEE Preparation Works
Google says students can now take complete JEE mock exams directly inside Gemini, using questions curated from trusted Indian education platforms PhysicsWallah and Careers360.
Once a student completes a test, Gemini immediately steps in with:
- Detailed performance feedback
- Clear explanations for correct and incorrect answers
- Identification of weak and strong subject areas
- A personalized study plan based on test results
This approach signals a shift away from AI as a shortcut to answers, and toward guided, responsible exam preparation.

Gemini for JEE Preparation Expands Beyond the Chatbot
Google isn’t stopping at Gemini alone. The company confirmed that JEE Main preparation tools are also rolling out to AI Mode in Google Search, including the Canvas tool, which lets students:
- Build structured study guides
- Create interactive quizzes
- Attach class notes for contextual learning
Together, these tools aim to create a seamless learning flow—from search to study to self-assessment.
AI Study Tools in Indian Languages
Google says Indian students are already using Gemini to study advanced physics, mathematics, and broader STEM subjects, while NotebookLM is helping learners convert notes into quizzes, flashcards, and even audio or video summaries.
Importantly, Gemini for JEE preparation tools are available in multiple Indian languages, making them accessible to a far wider student base.
Google’s Bigger AI Education Push in India
Beyond students, Google is expanding its AI strategy to educators and institutions. The company announced:
- A partnership with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
- A pilot with Chaudhary Charan Singh University to build an AI-enabled state university
- A nationwide framework for applying AI across teaching, student support, and administration
In addition, Google.org is backing Wadhwani AI with an ₹850 million (~$10 million) grant to integrate AI into government-run education platforms, including national and state learning portals.
The initiative spans pre-school to higher education, with tools like voice-based reading support in Indian languages and AI-powered English learning coaches.
Google claims these programs have already reached around 10 million learners and educators, with an ambitious goal of scaling to 75 million students, 1.8 million educators, and 1 million early-career professionals by 2027.
