Google has announced that its Google AI Plus plan is now available in over 40 countries, including Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Vietnam, and Egypt. Priced at around $5 per month, the plan aims to make advanced AI tools more accessible in regions where the company’s standard $20 subscription may be too expensive.
The Google AI Plus plan first launched in Indonesia earlier this month for Rp 75,000 ($4.50). In select countries like Nepal and Mexico, Google is offering a 50% discount for the first six months to encourage adoption.
What the Google AI Plus Plan Offers
Subscribers to the Google AI Plus plan get access to:
- Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s advanced AI model
- AI-powered creative tools such as Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast for image and video generation
- Enhanced features for NotebookLM, Google’s AI research assistant
- AI integration in Gmail, Docs, and Sheets for smarter productivity
- 200GB of cloud storage for documents, images, and media
The plan mirrors the recent launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go plan, which also targets price-sensitive markets with a sub-$5 option.
Why It Matters
Until now, both Google and OpenAI have offered their premium AI subscriptions at $20 per month, which limits adoption in countries where that cost is prohibitive. With the Google AI Plus plan, the company hopes to attract millions of new users across Africa, Asia, and Latin America by offering affordable AI access for work, learning, and creativity.
