Google is transforming the Play Store with a host of Google Play Store AI features designed to deliver a more personalized, engaging experience for its 4 billion users worldwide. Announced on Tuesday, the updates include a redesigned Apps tab, a new Play Games experience, personalized recommendations, and AI-powered tools built on Gemini integration.
Aurash Mahbood, VP and General Manager of Google Play Games, explained that the goal is to make the Play Store a true content destination for apps, games, books, movies, TV shows, and more — all tailored to each user’s interests.
Guided Search and Curated Spaces

A major highlight of the Google Play Store AI features is Guided Search. Instead of typing in the name of a specific app, users can now enter a goal like “find a home,” and Gemini AI will recommend the most relevant apps.
The Apps tab is also getting a big makeover with curated spaces for seasonal topics and user-specific interests. For instance, sports fans in the U.S. will see WNBA-related content, while users in India and Japan will get cricket and comics-focused spaces. Korea will have a video content hub showcasing short-form dramas and entertainment.
Personalized “You” Tab for Users

Another key addition among the Google Play Store AI features is the new You tab, which serves as a personal dashboard for subscriptions, Play Points, content recommendations, and app activity.
Gamers can view their stats, achievements, and even customize their profiles with AI-generated avatars — all in one place.
AI Sidekick for Gaming Assistance

One of the most exciting Google Play Store AI features is the Play Games Sidekick, a real-time AI assistant powered by Gemini Live. This in-game overlay offers instant help, tips, and walkthroughs without requiring players to leave the game.
The Sidekick will debut in popular titles like Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, FC Mobile, and Solo Leveling: Arise. Play Games Leagues will also launch in October, letting players compete for rewards in tournaments starting with Subway Surfers.
Enhanced Game Pages and PC Expansion

The redesigned Game Detail Pages will provide updates on events, developer news, and special offers. Next month, a community Q&A feature will let gamers share tips directly on these pages.
Meanwhile, Google announced that Google Play Games on PC — offering access to over 200,000 titles — is officially out of beta, expanding its reach beyond mobile devices.
With these Google Play Store AI features, Google is turning the Play Store into a smarter, more interactive hub for apps, games, and entertainment — powered by the latest AI technology.
