Other top-tier investors include Andreessen Horowitz and Abstract Ventures, reflecting strong confidence in Krea’s long-term vision.

Built by Creatives, for Creatives

The startup’s story is as compelling as its product. Co-founders Victor Perez (CEO) and Diego Rodriguez (CTO) met over a decade ago in Barcelona while studying engineering for audiovisual systems. Perez, with a background in music, and Rodriguez, a visual artist at heart, both gravitated toward the possibilities AI could unlock for creatives.

Their shared passion for creativity and technical innovation eventually led them to build Krea. Perez even dropped out of Cornell just one day after arriving to dedicate himself fully to the project—Rodriguez, who was already there on a prestigious fellowship, quickly joined him. The rest, as they say, is history.

Currently used by teams at Perplexity AI, Loop Earplugs, Pixar, LEGO, and Samsung, Krea is expanding its product offering beyond images and videos. The newly acquired funding will support development in audio and music generation, as well as enterprise features aimed at larger creative teams and agencies.

Rodriguez teased more advanced editing features to come, such as drag-and-drop functionality within AI-generated images—a capability that would bring the digital process even closer to traditional creative workflows. “That’s how a painter would work,” he said. “Why can’t AI tools do the same?”
