Nexos.ai, a rising European AI startup, has secured a €30 million Series A funding round — around $35 million USD — at a valuation near €300 million. Founded by the entrepreneurial duo behind Nord Security — Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas — the company is tackling a major pain point: how enterprise companies can safely adopt AI tools without creating uncontrolled data risk.
Addressing the enterprise AI paradox
Many large companies view AI with a dual lens: on one hand, potential productivity gains; on the other, a looming threat of data leakage, especially as employees upload sensitive enterprise information into large language models and other AI systems. Nexos.ai’s co-founders characterize this as “the biggest corporate data leak in the making.”
Rather than outright banning the use of AI, Nexos.ai positions itself as a “Switzerland for LLMs” — a neutral intermediary layer between teams and AI models. The platform aims to help businesses retain control of their data while letting employees and developers use AI tools productively.
Platform & product: What Nexos.ai delivers
The Nexos.ai platform has two core components:
- AI Workspace: A user-friendly interface for employees to access and interact with AI models while behind the company’s governance framework.
- AI Gateway: A developer-facing control layer that unifies access to 200+ AI models, providing cost-control, security, compliance oversight and reducing fragmentation in AI tool use.
With the fresh funding, Nexos.ai plans to expand support for private models tailored to sensitive data — a critical point for regulated industries and companies concerned about data sovereignty.
Funding & investors
The Series A was co-led by Index Ventures and Evantic Capital (a new fund launched by former Sequoia Capital partner Matt Miller). Previous backers including Creandum and Dig Ventures also participated, as did angel investors such as CEOs from Datadog, Klarna, Supercell and Wix.com.
Evantic’s “Legends” network — 140 industry-operators supporting portfolio startups — is seen as an added value beyond the capital alone.
Market focus & growth ambitions
Nexos.ai reports conducting 50-60 demo calls per week, signalling high interest from enterprise customers. Its initial target verticals include tech-savvy companies already using AI, plus regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government) where governance and data sensitivity are top concerns.
The startup also aims to grow its team to ~100 employees by its first anniversary, with much of that hiring planned in Europe — where data-sovereignty regulations are creating tailwinds.
One early user case: in the portfolio of the founders’ previous company, one customer reported that an AI assistant reduced human support needs significantly, saving ~€10 million in a year. While Nexos.ai has not disclosed its own revenue figures, this example underlines the real-world impact the platform is targeting.
Why it matters
Enterprise AI adoption has been plagued by three major issues: governance risk, model sprawl, and unclear ROI. By providing a single orchestration layer that addresses all three, Nexos.ai is positioning itself at a critical juncture of enterprise transformation.
The strong backing, experienced founders, and clear market demand suggest this startup could play a major role in how enterprises go from AI pilots to production at scale.
Strategic implications
- For enterprises: Nexos.ai offers a path forward beyond “ban vs. allow” — enabling AI use while maintaining control.
- For the AI ecosystem: The investment signals that secure, governed AI platforms are gaining traction as differentiated alternatives to generic model access.
- For Europe: The company underscores that European-based AI firms with data-sovereignty credentials can capture new enterprise demand globally.
