OpenAI Stargate project, a $500 billion partnership with Oracle and SoftBank designed to supercharge AI infrastructure in the United States, is now reportedly exploring international growth opportunities.

According to the Financial Times, the AI powerhouse is considering the U.K., Germany, and France as potential locations for future data center investments, even as the project remains focused on ramping up its U.S. footprint.

Originally unveiled in January, the OpenAI Stargate Project was pitched as a massive effort to position the U.S. at the forefront of artificial intelligence by building state-of-the-art data centers and computing infrastructure. Now, just months later, OpenAI and its partners appear to be eyeing the European market as part of their long-term strategy.

Despite the global ambitions, sources suggest Stargate’s immediate priority remains securing its first $100 billion in funding. SoftBank is reportedly expected to contribute tens of billions of dollars, split between debt and equity.

The Stargate project also drew political attention when it launched, with former President Donald Trump calling it a “declaration of confidence in America.”

As AI adoption surges worldwide, it’s no surprise that OpenAI is exploring new frontiers to scale its data infrastructure. If the expansion materializes, Stargate could soon reshape not only the American AI landscape but the global one as well.
