ClickUp adds new AI assistant capabilities in its latest 4.0 release — a major upgrade aimed at transforming how teams manage communication, documents, and workflows under one unified hub.

The company says this leap forward was made possible after acquiring Qatalog, an enterprise search startup backed by Salesforce Ventures and Atomico. The integration now powers ClickUp’s advanced search and contextual AI tools, helping users find information across Google Drive, Figma, Gmail, and more.

Two New AI Agents: One for Answers, One for Action

With this release, ClickUp adds new AI assistant agents in two forms:

1. A Communication AI Agent — present in every chat and channel. It automatically scans for questions and provides context-aware answers from company data or connected apps.
2. ClickUp Brain — a powerful AI assistant that helps with daily tasks like scheduling meetings, summarizing discussions, generating ideas, and even creating or commenting on new tasks.

Unlike traditional bots, the Brain assistant also accesses the web and third-party integrations to analyze reports or draft content, living conveniently in ClickUp’s sidebar for instant use.

Competing Directly with Slack, Notion, and Teams

By rolling out these features, ClickUp makes its most direct challenge yet to Slack, Notion, and Microsoft Teams.

ClickUp also enhanced its Syncups feature — internal live audio and video calls — now with built-in AI transcription, automated note-taking, and summaries. Every communication channel now includes a Syncup button, allowing teams to collaborate and record insights faster than ever.

Smart Calendar and Team Dashboards

The new AI assistant also integrates with ClickUp’s calendar and analytics tools. It can automatically reschedule meetings when tasks are prioritized, and its redesigned team dashboard provides managers with a real-time overview of progress, workloads, and performance metrics — almost like having an AI project coordinator.

The Bigger Vision for ClickUp’s Future

“Eight years ago, we started with the goal to replace all of your work software,” said Zeb Evans, ClickUp’s CEO. “In the age of AI, that vision is even more important because you can’t visualize everything within a chat interface.”

Evans added that ClickUp has surpassed $300 million in annual recurring revenue and aims to go public within two years. With more than $537 million raised from investors including a16z, Tiger Global, and Craft Ventures, ClickUp’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
