In a major step toward redefining creative design, Figma acquires Weavy, an AI-powered image and video generation startup, and announces the launch of a new brand — Figma Weave.
This acquisition reinforces Figma’s push into AI-driven creativity tools, allowing designers to generate, edit, and refine visuals using multiple AI models. While the company did not disclose the deal’s valuation, it confirmed that 20 members of Weavy’s team will join Figma under the new brand identity.
Founded in 2024 in Tel Aviv, Weavy quickly gained attention after raising $4 million in seed funding led by Entrée Capital, with participation from Designer Fund, Founder Collective, and Fiverr founder Micha Kaufman.
Figma Weave Will Merge AI and Design Innovation
For now, Weavy will continue as a standalone product, but it will soon be integrated under the Figma Weave umbrella. The move comes as Figma acquires Weavy to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding AI design landscape.
Weavy’s technology allows users to combine different AI models to create high-quality media such as images and videos for product mockups, UI design, and branding. Users can make detailed edits — adjusting lighting, angles, and tones — directly through text-based prompts.
This new capability will eventually merge with Figma’s collaborative design platform, bringing advanced AI editing and generation tools to millions of creators worldwide.
Advanced Node-Based AI Workflow
Weavy’s unique node-based design system gives users the ability to branch, remix, and iterate on generated outputs. Creators can start with a simple text prompt for an image, preview results from various AI models such as Flux, Ideogram, Nano-Banana, and Seedream, and extend visuals into video sequences using Seedance, Sora, or Veo.
“This node-based approach brings a new level of craft and control to AI generation,” said Figma CEO Dylan Field. “The Weavy team has inspired us with the balance they’ve struck between simplicity, approachability, and power.”
By integrating this technology, Figma Weave will enable designers to explore, iterate, and perfect creative outputs faster than ever.
AI Design Market Heats Up
The news that Figma acquires Weavy follows a surge in activity among AI-powered creative platforms. Recently, Perplexity acquired Sequoia-backed Visual Electric, and Krea raised $83 million in funding from Bain Capital and a16z to expand its AI design suite.
As Figma acquires Weavy, it signals a new phase in the design industry — one where AI-driven creativity becomes a core part of the workflow rather than a secondary tool. The integration will allow designers to work smarter, accelerate prototyping, and bring more creative control to every stage of visual design.
With Figma Weave, the company is positioning itself as a leader in AI-assisted creativity, merging human intuition with machine intelligence to unlock the next generation of design innovation.
