Google has introduced a new Gemini meeting scheduling feature in Gmail, designed to make finding the perfect meeting time faster and easier than ever. The AI-powered update allows users to automatically generate ideal meeting slots based on their Google Calendar availability—right from the email compose screen.
Launched on Tuesday, the “Help me schedule” option uses Gemini AI to analyze your open time slots and propose the most convenient meeting options. Once generated, users can edit or remove certain times before embedding them directly into their email. When the recipient selects a time, the meeting invite is instantly created and synced on both calendars.
Unlike third-party tools like Calendly or Doodle, Google’s Gemini meeting scheduling feature works natively within Gmail and takes into account the context of your email conversation. For example, if the recipient mentions wanting a “30-minute meeting next week,” Gemini will automatically limit its suggestions to half-hour slots available before week’s end.
Currently, the AI scheduling assistant supports one-on-one meetings, but not multi-participant scheduling. Still, this marks a major step in Google’s ongoing mission to embed AI more deeply into its Workspace ecosystem.
The launch follows several recent AI-focused Workspace updates, including:
- The Nano Banana image editing model
- Gemini-powered slides and AI-enhanced Google Vids
- NotebookLM improvements
- The ability to create and share custom AI assistants (Gems)
“Scheduling should feel effortless,” Google stated, emphasizing that the Gemini scheduling assistant is meant to help users spend less time managing logistics and more time focusing on meaningful work.
With AI now integrated into email, slides, and even video tools, Google’s Workspace suite is steadily evolving into a smart productivity ecosystem powered by Gemini — and the new meeting scheduling feature is a clear glimpse into that future.
