Notion launches agents for data analysis and task automation, adding AI-powered capabilities to create, update, and manage workflows across platforms.
At its “Make with Notion” event on Thursday, Notion announced its first AI agent designed to transform how users handle data analysis and task automation. The agent draws on all of a user’s Notion pages and databases as context, generating notes, reports, and insights automatically.
AI Agents Transform Notion Workflows
With Notion agents for data analysis and task automation, users can now:
- Create pages and databases automatically.
- Update existing content with new data, properties, and views.
- Pull data from external platforms like Slack, email, and Google Drive.
For example, a user could ask the Notion agent to create a bug-tracking dashboard by integrating multiple sources, cutting down manual work significantly.

From Notion AI to Full Agentic AI
The new agent builds on Notion AI, which previously summarized and searched content. Now, with agentic AI capabilities, the agent can execute complex, multistep tasks across hundreds of pages — each task lasting up to 20 minutes.
Users can also set up a “profile” page to:
- Define task preferences and instructions for the agent.
- Tell it how to reference sources and format outputs.
- Store and edit “memories” so the agent learns over time.
Demo Highlights at Launch
In demo videos, Notion showcased agents that could:
- Generate competition analysis reports automatically.
- Provide feedback for landing pages and update them.
- Turn meeting notes into structured analysis documents.
- Build a restaurant tracker from various data sources.
At present, actions must be triggered manually. However, Notion says automated scheduling and custom triggers are coming soon, along with a template library for ready-made agent workflows.
Enterprise Expansion and Future Plans
Over the past two years, Notion has rolled out tools like a calendar app, Gmail client, enterprise search, and meeting note-taker — all of which laid the groundwork for AI-powered automation.
Now, with Notion agents for data analysis and task automation, the platform competes directly with enterprise tools from Salesforce, Fireflies, and Read AI, which have also launched their own automation agents.
