Pinterest AI Slop Control: How Users Can Reduce AI-Generated Content in Their Feed

Pinterest AI Slop Control is giving users more authority over the type of content they see on the platform. As AI-generated posts increasingly dominate social media feeds, Pinterest has introduced new settings that allow users to reduce the amount of AI-created content appearing in their home feed.

The feature is available across both web and mobile versions of Pinterest and aims to provide users with greater customization over their browsing experience. While the tool does not completely eliminate AI-generated posts, it enables users to limit them in certain categories.

The move reflects growing concerns about the spread of misleading, low-quality, or excessive AI-generated content across social platforms.

How Pinterest AI Slop Control Works

Pinterest AI Slop Control operates through a new settings option designed to manage AI-generated content preferences. Users can adjust their feed using the platform’s updated controls by following these steps:

  • Navigate to the Home Feed Tuner section within a Pinterest account
  • Locate the new GenAI Interests tab
  • Toggle the switch to limit AI-generated posts in the home feed

The company says the controls initially focus on categories that are most prone to AI-generated or AI-modified content. Pinterest plans to expand the feature based on user feedback and evolving content trends.

AI Content Can Be Reduced, Not Removed

Pinterest AI Slop Control does not provide a complete opt-out from AI-generated posts. Instead, the feature reduces their visibility within selected categories.

Pinterest Chief Technology Officer Matt Madrigal explained that the platform aims to balance human creativity with AI innovation rather than remove AI-generated content entirely. The company views the new controls as a way to offer users greater flexibility while maintaining AI-driven features on the platform.

Although some users may prefer a full removal option, Pinterest acknowledges that AI-generated content is becoming an increasingly common part of the digital ecosystem.

A Step Toward More User Control

Pinterest AI Slop Control represents a broader shift toward giving users more transparency and control over AI content. As AI-generated media becomes more widespread across social networks, such customization features may play an important role in shaping future user experiences.

The update signals Pinterest’s attempt to address user concerns while continuing to support AI-powered innovation across its platform.
