The Wispr Flow Android app is officially live, bringing AI-powered dictation to Android users after earlier launches on Mac, Windows and iOS. The move positions the startup as one of the few players offering advanced AI voice typing directly on Android, alongside competitors like Typeless.

With cross-app functionality, translation support in over 100 languages and a newly released Hinglish voice model, Wispr Flow is aiming to make voice input faster and more natural than traditional typing.

Wispr Flow Android App Introduces Floating Dictation Interface

Unlike its iOS version, which operates through a dedicated keyboard, the Wispr Flow Android app uses a floating bubble interface. Users can hold the bubble to dictate or tap once to start recording and press close to stop.

The app not only transcribes speech but also cleans up filler words and formats text automatically based on context and the app being used. This allows it to adapt output for messaging apps, emails or other writing environments.

According to co-founder and CEO Tanay Kothari, Android’s flexibility enabled the company to design a more seamless voice experience.

Faster Dictation and Multi-Language Support

Alongside the Android launch, Wispr Flow announced an infrastructure rewrite that improves dictation speed by 30%. The system supports translation in more than 100 languages and works across different apps on the device.

The company also reported strong early engagement. Even during a limited rollout phase, users spoke more than 1.3 million words in English within just a few days.

Hinglish Model Targets Indian Users

A notable addition to the Wispr Flow Android app is a dedicated Hinglish model. Hinglish blends Hindi and English in everyday speech, especially among Indian users who frequently mix languages in conversations.

Kothari said the new model is designed specifically to transcribe spoken Hinglish accurately rather than defaulting to traditional Hindi script. This feature targets a growing mobile-first audience in India, where code-switching between languages is common in both personal and professional communication.

Growing Competition in AI-Powered Dictation

The AI-powered dictation market has become increasingly competitive, particularly on desktop and iOS platforms. However, Android has had fewer advanced options until recently.

With this launch, Wispr Flow joins a small group of AI dictation tools available for Android. Typeless introduced its Android app last month, adding pressure in the category.

Strong Venture Capital Backing

Wispr Flow has attracted significant investor attention in the AI productivity space. In June, the company raised $30 million in funding led by Menlo Ventures. A few months later, in November, it secured an additional $25 million in a round led by Notable Capital.

The startup has raised a total of $81 million, with its most recent funding round reportedly valuing the company at $700 million, according to sources.

With the Wispr Flow Android app now available, the company is expanding its footprint in mobile AI tools, betting that voice-powered interfaces can eventually replace typing for many users.
